Gratitude, Day 9

I was just thinking, "Man, I'd really like to choke a bitch," when I realized that I had almost forgotten to be grateful today. So, here's hoping that taking some time out to appreciate life will stop me from planning elaborate violence on a hooker.*

-----------------------------------------------------------

1) I get tomorrow off! If you, like me, get time off for Easter, you should probably join me in being thankful to Jesus. Even if you're not a Christian and you're skeptical about whether or not he died for your sins, I think you can agree that at the very least he died for your day off.

2) I'm lucky to have a boyfriend who is as honest and open with me as he is, out of respect to my slight insanity.

3) Two - TWO! - new episodes of The Office tonight!

4) All of my plants appear to be really healthy, in spite of the fact that I don't really water them on what you'd call a 'regular schedule.' Having plants around really adds some vibrance to a living situation. Especially when your other decorative efforts include a slipcover you made yourself and some half-burned candles.

5) I've been rereading 'Lovingkindness' by Sharon Salzberg, and I think it's having a positive effect on how I interact with people and react to daily nonsense. For one thing, I think recently reading this book is one of the reasons I'm not more actively hostile right now (see above, re: hookers*). I'd recommend it to anyone who is into touchy-feely self-improvement type things.

-----------------------------------------------------------

*When I say 'hooker,' I don't necessarily mean 'a woman who performs sexual acts in exchange for money' (although yeah, possibly that too, in this case). What I really mean is 'a woman who is currently cruisin for a bruisin from my fists of justice and vengeance.'
